MacIan, between the years 1845 and 1848, illustrated figures in traditional forms of Highland dress (some more fanciful than historical!) for inclusion in The Clans of the Scottish Highlands, by James Logan. His portraits have become some of the best recognized depictions of Scottish Highland Dress across the globe.
