The Scottish Tartans Museum's main focus is on the history and development of Scottish Highland Dress, namely tartan and the kilt. Our museum gallery features original and replica kilts showing styles from the late sixteenth century till today, with original kilts dating back over 200 years. We have over 500 samples of tartans, with some dating to c. 1725. Other exhibits include Scottish weaponry, a weaving display, and information detailing the Scottish migration to North Carolina and their relationship with the Cherokee Indians in particular.
We are currently raising funds for a renovation and expansion of our exhibit gallery. For more information how you can help with that project, click here.
