Clan Currie 2001 International Clan Gathering

The Clan Currie Society has received an invitation from the Blairgowrie Highland Games Association to participate in this year's gathering as the "Honoured Clan of the Day". The Society has graciously accepted.

Clansfolk far and wide are invited to join with the Society at the games, scheduled for Sunday, September 2, 2001. The games will be held from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Bogles Field, Essendy Road in Blairgowrie. The games, which will feature a performance by the Canadian Massed Pipes and Drums, will conclude a weeklong series of concerts and special events to be held in the town.

The games, which have been existence officially since the 1930's and unofficially for literally hundreds of years, will feature traditional highland athletics, dance and piping competitions, as well as a cycling event. There will also be a return of the highly popular "World's Longest" Community Tug of War.

In addition to scheduled activities, Clan Currie is considering hosting a number of clan-related events, including a clan dinner, should participation warrant. For further information about the games and to receive updates on Clan activities, please contact the Clan Currie Society via e-mail at clancurrie@mail.com.
