: I am interested in information about Scottish connections in the war for Southern Independence.

: 1. I know of only unit name after a Scottish that was Clan McGregor of course but there may be others. If anyone knows of another please contact me.

: 2. Was the kilt worn in Battle by any unit other than the 79th N.Y Inf. Reg. Of Scottish Immigrants?

Thanks for your questions. I myself am not a Civil War expert. Our museum focuses more on the history of the kilt and tartan.
However, one of our trustees is a Civil War buff and participates in various Civil War roundtables in the area. His special interest
is in Scottish-American ties to the civil war. I will pass your questions on to him.

I am fairly certain that the only kilted regiment was the 79th Camerons out of New York.

Aye,
Matt Newsome
